I am thrilled to invite you to watch my behind the scenes videos for the Nat Geo series Secrets of the Elephants. As the presenter of the series, I am incredibly proud of the footage and storytelling that we were able to bring to audiences around the world.
But I also want to give you a glimpse into the hard work and dedication that went into capturing those amazing shots. From the vast, harsh landscapes of the Namibian desert to the intricate social dynamics of elephant families, filming this series was a complex and challenging undertaking.
I have the entire crew of the series to thank for letting me film them as we were in the middle of the shoot in some of the wildest and most amazing places,
In my behind the scenes videos, you will see just how difficult it was to get the shots that seem so seamless in the final product. You will witness the long hours spent waiting for the perfect moment, the careful planning and coordination required to capture the action, and the close relationships that developed between the film crew and the elephants themselves.
I worked with the most incredible crews in Africa and Asia, it was more than a dream come true. hope that these videos will give you a deeper appreciation for the incredible beauty and complexity of these amazing animals, and for the hard work and dedication of the filmmakers who bring their stories to life.
Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I hope you enjoy the behind the scenes videos as much as I enjoyed making them. Please share your thoughts about what more we can do to save elephants through story telling.
All my best, Paula Kahumbu
